iPad goes on sale in Colombia

Dozens of Colombians queued for hours in Bogota to purchase the Apple iPad, which went on sale in the Andean nation midnight Thursday.

From Friday the “tablet computer” will be on sale in Falabella, Alkosto, Ktronix, Exito, iShop, Mac Center and Movistar for double the monthly minimum wage, COP999,000 ($500). A more advanced version is also on sale for COP1.8 million ($993).

The iPad went on sale in the U.S. on April 30, where 450,000 units were sold in the first day.
