Green Party purges corrupt politicians

The Green Party joined a number of Colombia’s political parties that have recently published lists of corrupt politicians who will not receive support from their respective parties in the October elections, reported news source El Espectador Thursday.

Green Party spokesman Luis Eduardo Garzon said that his party decided to publicize the list “without any explanation or need for justification.”

Garzon added that “any person, including the party’s president, that is judicialized, will go.”

In reference to the selection of candidates, Garzon said that “unlike others, we did not not make a broad promise to guarantee the number of candidates … we chose slowly, so that the candidates could generate confidence within the party.”
