The former director of Colombia’s intelligence service DAS was arrested
Friday for his alleged ties to paramilitary groups. He had been
arrested once before, but had to be released because procedural mistakes.
Former DAS director Jorge Noguera is suspected of having allowed paramilitary infiltration in the country’s intelligence service, to have disrupted n operation to arrest paramilitary leader Hernan Giraldo Serna and having had relations with paramilitary head Rodrigo Tivar Pupo, alias ‘Jorge 40’.
Noguera is also accused of having authorized a list of unionists and assumed left wing activists that later ended up being killed by paramilitaries.
