Colombian ex-governor dismissed for 10 years

A former Colombian governor has been dismissed and disqualified for 10 years for mismanaging education budgets in the department of Cesar.

An investigation into the education sector overseen by Cristian Hernando Moreno Panezo when he governed Cesear between 2004 and 2008 uncovered numerous debts and mismanaged funds.

“The governor failed to comply with laws relating to investment and prioritization of resources. This conduct caused the department a financial imbalance in the education sector,” the Prosecutor General told Colombian media.

The ex-governor’s conduct was extremely serious, said the prosecutor.
