Colombia’s February retail sales up 3.9% on-year

Colombia’s retail sales in February rose 3.9% year-on-year, according to official data released Monday.

The increase was led by sales of home computers, which rose 25.7%, and home appliances and furniture sales, which increased 13.6%.

The biggest falls were in newspapers, books and stationary, which fell 9.1% year on year, liquor and cigarettes, which fell 3.6%, and pharmaceutical products, which also fell 3.6%.

In January, Colombia’s retail sales expanded 8.8% year on year.

Retail sales fell 2.7% in 2009, compared with 2008.
