FARC kill five, wound nine soldiers

Guerrillas of the FARC killed five and wounded nine Colombian soldiers in the south of Colombia, the army announced Sunday.

According to an army spokesman, the soldiers were ambushed in the jungle around Calamar, Guaviare where they were to protect civilians involved in the eradication of coca fields.

“The terrorists, utilizing (gas) cylinders packed with explosives in an indiscriminate manner, murdered the soldiers who were supporting the eradication work,” the army said.
