‘FARC kill father for resisting son’s recruitment’

FARC rebels reportedly killed a man in a rural area of the southern Colombian  department for trying to stop the group recruiting his son, newspaper El  reported Monday

According to neighbors, Anastacio Rojas was killed Saturday night in his home in San Bartolo after rebels stormed the house looking for Rojas’ 23-year-old son, Duver Rojas Motta, in an attempt to recruit the young man.

Guerrillas from the 13th Front “Cacica Gaitana” reportedly murdered the father after a discussion in which he refused to let rebels take his son.

After killing Rojas the rebels proceeded to take the 23-year-old who later escaped captivity and returned to his home, reports state.

The army has begun operations to locate those responsible according to El Tiempo.
