Seven members of the Colombian military were killed in combat by FARC
guerrillas in the south west of Colombia, sources within the Armed
Forces told Caracol Radio Sunday.
According to this source, the troops were attacked when on patrol in a rural area near Samaniego, Nariño.
Seven soldiers died and another three were injured in the attack, preliminary reports say. Three soldiers would still be missing.
The army is sending reinforcement to the area to find the missing army personnel and regain control over the area.
Nariño is one of the Colombian departments bordering neighboring countries in which the FARC and other illegal armed groups have a strong presence.
