Colombia’s largest guerrilla group FARC conveyed on Thursday its support and congratulation of the reelection of left wing Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez through what they call “an example of democracy.”

Chavez won 54% of the vote over opponent Henrique Capriles during the Venezuelan elections carried out on October 7, securing his fourth term as Venezuela’s president until 2019.
Allegedly some of the guerrilla commanders have met in Venezuela with Chavez, who in the past has acted as a facilitator of rebel hostage releases and recently as a mediator in the peace process between FARC guerrillas and Colombia’s President Juan Manuel Santos, according to W Radio.
The official peace negotiations between the Colombian government and FARC are set to start next week in the Norwegian capital Oslo.
