Colombia’s Ombudsman’s Office said Friday that members of rebel group FARC carried out 57 attacks during the 60-day of ceasefire due to end on Sunday.
Ombudsman Jorge Armando Otalora told radio station Caracol that “according to data from the Early Warning System of the Ombudsman’s Office, there have been 57 registered violent actions during the truce, an average of one a day.”
The guerrilla offensives have been registered across the country, said the ombudsman.
Otalora called on the FARC to “leave the civilian population outside the conflict.”
The unilateral truce that began on November 20, a day after peace talks with the administration of President Juan Manuel Santos began, and will end Sunday. Rebel leaders have rejected an extension of the ceasefire.
