FARC car bomber sentenced to 46 years in jail

A Colombian judge sentenced a FARC guerrilla to 46 years in jail for detonating a car bomb in the eastern department of Arauca.

The judge found Luis Felipe Jimenez Ramirez guilty of setting off explosives in a vehicle close to an army checkpoint on October 16, 2003.

The court ruled that the vehicle’s driver Jairo Augusto Lopez Rusinque had been tricked into driving with the bomb on board. Lopez was killed in the attack.

Jimenez Ramirez was sentenced for aggravated homicide, terrorism, personal injury and false impersonation. He was placed in Boyaca’s Combita maximum security prison.
