Colombia midfielder Radamel Falcao has signed with English soccer side Chelsea, according to Colombian television network Caracol.

UK sports channel Sky confirmed the news while BBC Sports reported the Colombian number 9 was at the point of signing.

Falcao himself stayed quiet on social media and also the London club confirmed no transfer.

“El Tigre” has been playing in England since September last year when Manchester United after French club AS Monaco lent him to one of Britain’s best teams.

However, having already suffered injuries ahead of the 2014 World Cup and a disappointing season in Manchester, trainer Louis Van Gaal and Falcao split and one of Colombia’s best players of the moment became unemployed, leaving his agent to find him a club.

Meanwhile, the number 9 returned to Latin America for the Copa America currently held in Chile, but faced strong criticism at home as he failed to lead Colombia past the quarter finals.

Nevertheless, Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho reportedly asked Falcao to join Chelsea on July 19 when the club is playing friendlies in Canada, after which Falcao will travel to the UK for the 2015/2016 season.
