Colombia’s star striker Radamel Falcao Garcia published a photo of his participation in a training session, after having been announced in Colombia’s provisional Soccer World Cup squad.

On Tuesday the forward said he ran 9.4 km, swam 1.5 km, and did a session of gym and physiotherapy treatment.

The star striker underwent surgery in January on his left knee after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during a French league game, but after having completed three months of recovery he says that his leg has responded well to the treatment, and is now training.

The photo, released on Tuesday, the same day that coach Jose Pekerman announced his squad for the finals in Brazil, gave hope that “El Tigre” may yet feature in the World Cup.

Falcao , who was included in the preliminary squad announcement, was a key player in the qualifying campaign, however in almost three months of treatment the Colombian striker has not had a single minute of football.

Colombia is expected to play well in the competition’s group stages as its Group C is considered to be one of the less name-heavy groups — consisting of Japan, Greece and Ivory Coast.

Colombia kicks off its World Cup campaign on June 14 against Greece, before playing Ivory Coast on June 19 and Japan on June 24.
