Ecopetrol books US$ 5 billion profit

Colombian state oil company Ecopetrol booked a more than 10 trillion
peso (US$5.2 billion) profit in the first ten months of 2008. That’s
146 percent more than in the same period last year.

According to Ecopetrol, the results in the first ten months of the year were so high, because of the high oil prices, an increase in the production of oil and gas and an increase in sale.

Ecopetrol’s crude oil production rose to 446 barrels per day.
