Without even having played, Deportivo Cali are the new leaders in the
Colombian Copa Mustang I. The 2-3 defeat by La Equidad has been changed
to a 3-0 win as the visiting side fielded an illegal player.
In the match, played last February 21st, La Equidad fielded Luis Fernando Copete to comply with the rule that says that each club should at least include one under-18 player in its starting line-up.
However, the player turned out to be two years older than the official documents showed, leading to Deportivo Cali’s appear following the match. Tournament organiser Dimayor ruled in favor of Cali who are now awarded a 3-0 victory.
As a result, Cali move from third to first place at the expense of Real Cartagena and Boyacá Chicó. La Equidad were fourth but drop to 10th position.
