It was a good day for Bogotá’s traditional two teams as Millonarios
scored late to beat Cúcuta, while Santa Fé netted even later to hold
Independiente Medellín to a draw.
Saturday’s action started at El Campín stadium, where troubled Millonarios hosted Cúcute Deportivo. Again, it didn’t look good for the home side as they still hadn’t scored with just six minutes to go.
However, a well-directed pass from Jonathan Estrada found Carmelo Valencia in the penalty area, and the forward did well to strike into the far corner to earn his side their first win of the season.
Santa Fé’s José Arrechea put his side ahead after 25 minutes at Medellín, but Jackson Martínez equalised in the 70th for teammate Diego Cabrera to make it 2-1 five minutes later.
DIM were heading for victory until handling at the edge of the penalty area allowed Pérez to convert the following spot kick in the 92nd minute, 2-2.
