Congressmen consider lowering their own wages

Colombian Congressmen are considering lowering their own wages and that
of the President and his Ministers to cut in government expenses.

The measure would be one of many that are currently being considered by Congress to battle the economic crisis that has hit Colombia.

The Congressmen, who now make approximately 21 million pesos (US$8,200), are discussing lowering their own wages with five percent.

In an interview with newspaper El Espectador, Senate president Hernan Andrade says to be in favor of the measure, but added he won’t be the one proposing the bill.
