Colombian congress will hold extra sessions starting January 17, to start work on the National Development Plan amongst other issues, reports newspaper El Tiempo.
Due to issues arising from the harsh rainy season, officials in the Colombian government felt it necessary to convene in January instead of February.
According to El Tiempo, Chairman of the House, Carlos Alberto Zuluaga, said Tuesday that the extras are needed “urgently” to consider not only the Development Plan, but also to discuss issues such as reform of the Police Code.
El Tiempo reports that there will be much interest in the National Development plan because it will now have to take into account the new political and economical realities created by the harsh rainy season.
