Colombia’s interior minister survives near helicopter crash (VIDEO)

Colombia’s Housing Minister survived a spectacular helicopter mishap Thursday.

A helicopter carrying Housing Minister German Vargas almost crashed into the ground after take-off but was allegedly saved by the pilot’s skill.

Newspaper El Tiempo reported that the helicopter spinning on its axis over a soccer field and almost hitting houses and crashing into the people below was due to dangerous cross winds that hit the helicopter’s propeller. The incident only lasted 36 seconds, but managed to scare everyone witnessing and experiencing the near-grave accident.

The minister owed his ultimate safety to the skill of the pilot, who claimed to be in control of the aircraft the whole time, according to Caracol Radio.
