Miss Neiva 2011 elected

The capital city of Colombia’s southwest department of Huila has chosen 19-year-old Edna Julieth Castañeda Garzon as the new Miss Neiva for 2011.

The young beauty queen, who was elected on Saturday, apparently won over the judges not only with her good looks, but also with her excellent dancing skills, reported local newspaper Diario del Huila.

Castañeda Garzon, who loves dancing, began training officially for the competition two months ago. She said she has visualized winning the crown since beginning the classes in April.

“A number of times I got nervous, but I had a lot of security because I knew that I danced well and because I know how to do things well; moreover, when you are among the chosen, among the favorites, well there is more security, because I heard very good comments from the people,” said the young beauty.

The new Neiva queen will now prepare herself to win the departmental competition, which will be decided on July 3.
