Colombia’s football coach fired

Colombia’s national soccer coach Jorge Luis Pinto was fired Tuesday morning a week after the team went scoreless in 2010 World Cup qualifying matches against Uruguay and Chile.

Pinto’s fate became uncertain after a 0-1 loss to Uruguay, which came on the heels of a 0-4 thrashing by Chile in Santiago, reported Spanish press agency EFE.

The Executive Committee of the Colombian Soccer Federation will be replace him with Eduardo Lara, who previously coached Colombia’s youth development teams.
