Colombia’s Carlos Bacca joins Belgium’s Club Brugge

Colombian striker Carlos Bacca signed with Belgian soccer team Club Brugge Thursday despite a lawsuit impeding him to leave the country.

The 25-year old Junior Barranquilla player confirmed the transfer to Colombian media, but may be delayed in joining his new team because of a pending lawsuit over his alleged involvement in the attack on a female fan.

The lawsuit followed a December 18 incident in which Bacca’s wife allegedly attacked a woman who wanted to take a photograph with last season’s top scorer.

Because the alleged victim claimed the forward joined his wife in the aggression, prosecutors have asked a court to order Bacca to stay inside Colombia while the lawsuit is pending.

According to Bacca’s attorney, the striker is allowed to leave the country and will be going to Europe within days.

Colombian media reported that Brugge paid $3.2 million for their latest striker.
