Colombian woman killed in Haiti quake

The remains of a Colombian woman killed in Haiti’s earthquake were found on Friday, the Ministry of the Interior said.

Sandra Liliana Rivera, 35, reportedly worked in security for Delta airlines. She was staying at the four-star Hotel Montana in Port-au-Prince when the 7.0 magnitude quake hit on January 12. The hotel collapsed, trapping approximately 300 people.

Rivera is the first confirmed death of a Colombian national due to the earthquake in Haiti. The interior ministry has said that including Rivera, four Colombians nationals are missing in Haiti.

Seventy Colombian rescue workers are currently stranded in Haiti.

An estimated 150,000 Haitians were killed in the quake.
