Colombian industrial production grew 4.9% in 2011

Colombian industrial production grew 4.9% in 2011, a report from the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) revealed Monday.

The Monthly Manufacturing Sample for December 2011 also revealed that production grew in 30 out of 48 industrial sectors although the number of persons employed only increased 1.4% over 2010.

The report credited this growth to the increased sales dynamic of non-metallic minerals (12.0%), sugar and other mills (17.2%), and beverages (9.0%).

The figures released do not take into account the coffee industry.
