Colombian hotel income and occupancy down on last year

The income of Colombian hotels fell by 0.4% and the occupancy rate decreased by 0.8% in the year to February 2011 according to a report by the National Statistics Agency DANE

In February the main purpose of travel for Colombian guests in hotels was recreation (46%), followed by business (43.4%) and conferences (7.5%). In the same month, for non-residents, the main purpose of travel was business (52.2%) followed by recreation (39.1%) and conferences (6.1%)

In February the level of occupancy in Colombian hotels was 47.7%. Between February 2010 and the same month this year the price of a single room decreased by 0.3%, of a double room by 2.7% and a suite by 2.6%. On the other hand the price of other types of room increased by 1.9%.
