Colombian export drops 17.4% in February

Colombia’s income through export dropped 17.4 percent in February
compared to the same month last year, the country’s statistics
department announced Thursday
.

The export to the Unites States, contracting more than other export markets, is the main reason for the sharp decline, the DANE said in its monthly report.

The income of export for Colombia was US$2.3 billion in February, while in the same month in 2008 the revenue was US$2.8 billion.

Combining January and February, Colombian export dropped 15.3 percent compared to 2008.
