Colombian domestic air fares drop

The minimum price of Colombian domestic flights dropped 11% in August compared to the same month last year, in an environment of strong competition within the industry, according to the country’s Air Transport Association (ATA).

The ATA says that the drop in prices is due to an increase in the quantity of flights.

Colombian airlines enjoyed a 38.5% increase in passengers taking domestic flights in the first half of 2010 compared to the same period the year before.

In this year’s first half, a record number of 7.44 million people took domestic flights.
