Colombian cyclist Rigoberto Uran held on as leader of the Giro d’Italia, in spite of a fifth place finish in the 15th stage, national media reported on Sunday.

Uran, who rides as part of the Omega Pharma team, finished behind fellow countrymen Fabio Duarte from Team Colombian and Nairo Quintana from Movistar in the Italian competition, and 42 seconds behind stage winner Fabio Aru, RCN Radio reported.

Duarte finished second and Quintana finished third, 21 and 22 seconds behind Aru, respectively, the El Espectador newspaper reported.

Despite the fifth place finish, the Antioquian-born Uran has managed to hold on to the leader’s pink jersey, 1 minute and 3 seconds ahead of second-place Australian Cadel Evans.
