Colombian coastguards Tuesday
rescued four Australian, one Irish and one Swiss tourist who were
drifting in high seas after their ship lost rudder in the Caribbean Sea.
Frigate
Captain Joaquin Urrego, commander of the Coastguards Station from Covenas said
that the tourists were rescued in good health conditions despite they had been
in high seas since Sunday.
“The
sailboat was drifting since Sunday one mille from Boca Corea, in the department
of Cordoba near the Sinu River outlet,” Urrego said.
A
Colombian coastguard saw the tourists and he towed the ship.
The
identities of the tourists have not been revealed and they were taken to Fuerte
Island in the department of Bolivar.
The
ship sailed from the bordering locality of Panama, Puerto Obaldia, Urrego added.
