Colombia-Venezuela flight reported missing

Colombian civil aviation authorities report the disappearance of light aircraft flying between Bogota’s El Dorado airport and the Venezuelan city of Maracaibo.

Semana reports that the aircraft’s pilot last made contact with Venezuela’s San Antonio municipality in the Tachira department, close to the Colombian border town with Cucuta.

An intense search is now reportedly underway to determine if the plane is lost, or has crashed.

While heavy rains have fallen in Norte de Santander, the Colombia department neighboring Tachira, aviation authorities said that national flights were operating as usual.
