Colombia uses ‘Afghanistan’ resolutions to defend invading Ecuador

Speaking for the United Nations Human Rights Council on Monday, Colombian vice-president Fransisco Santos invoked UN resolution 1373, which explicitly orders states to “deny safe haven to those who finance, plan or commit terrorist acts and to prevent those who finance, plan, facilitate or commit terrorist acts from using their respective territories for those purposes against other states or their citizens.”Santos accused neighbors Ecuador and Venezuela of deliberately breaching this resolution.
