Colombia and the US approved a security plan for 2014 on Tuesday.
During a meeting of the Security Cooperation Coordinating Group, the governments of Colombia and the US endorsed the US-Colombia Action Plan on Regional Security Cooperation for 2014.
The strategy will be presented in September at the next round of high level dialogue in Washington. Colombian foreign minister Maria Angela Holguin will be present.
The meeting was co-chaired by William Brownfield, Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, and Colombian Vice Minister of Defense Jorge Enrique Bedoya Vizcaya.
In response to continued concerns about organized crime threats to citizen security in the Western Hemisphere, Presidents Obama and Santos agreed in April 2012 to broaden the decade long U.S.-Colombian security partnership and to formalize security cooperation activities.
