Colombia raises number of AH1N1 cases to 50

 

Colombian health authorities raised the number of patients carrying the
AH1N1 virus, or swine flu, to 50 on Tuesday by confirming five new cases.

Three patients of Valle del Cauca, all adults, showed symptoms of the influenza after traveling to the United States.

The patient of Barranquilla went to see the doctor after a journey to Eucador.

The case of Bucaramanga was confirmed to carry the AH1N1 virus after a journey to Argentina and Uruquay.

All five patients are treated at home and are allowed no visitors.

Since the break out of the virus, Colombian authorities issued an
alert for possible swine flu in 1,282 cases. 198 people are considered
“suspicious cases” because of symptoms that resemble that of AH1N1.
