Moreno left out of Colombia national soccer team

Colombia announced its selection for the national soccer team Thursday, surprisingly leaving out midfielder Giovanni Moreno.

Colombia’s coach Leonel Alvarez recently released the list of players who will compete against Venezuela and Argentina in the World Cup Qualifiers. Moreno, who currently plays for Racing Club in the Argentine Primera Division, did not make the cut.

The goalkeepers Colombia will take with them to Barranquilla for the qualifier games are David Ospina, Breiner Castillo, and Robinson Zapata.

Colombia selected Mario Yepes, Luis Amaranto Perea, Aquivaldo Mosquera, Pablo Armero, Camilo Zuñiga, Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, Juan David Valencia, Alexis Henriquez, and Gerardo Vallejo as their defenders.

Fredy Guarin, Carlos Sanchez, Abel Aguilar, James Rodriguez, Dorlan Pabon, Diego Arias, and Cristian Marrugo make up the list of midfielders.

The Colombian strikers are Teofilo Gutierrez, Falcao Garcia, Jackson Martinez, Dayro Moreno, Darwin Quintero.

The Colombian selection will play Venezuela at the Metropolitano de Barranquilla stadium on November 11 and Argentina on November 15.
