Colombia needs luck to win Miss Universe: Former queen

A former Miss Colombia announced that in order for Colombia to reach the highest beauty ranking in the world, Miss Universe, they need a whole lotta luck.

Beauty queen-turned model, actress, and T.V. presenter, Paola Turbay, told the pageant association, Cromos, that what the prospective candidates need to win is the luck of being matched with a jury that sees them as fitting the Miss Universe image.

Her advice for rising to the position of Miss Universe was “discipline, vocation of service, and awareness of the weight of carrying the name of a country and being a woman.”

In this respect, Turbay says “it isn’t a ‘personal experience’.”

As for her own memories of the Miss Universe competition, she recalled “every night parading down the hotel hallways in the two crowning dress options for her companions to chose one” of their favorites.

Although Turbay has moved on to focusing much more on her life as a mother and wife, she still had plenty to say in her interview with Cromos about Colombia’s climb to the top of beauty mountain, and her life as an actress at large.
