Colombia beat Paraguay at Sudamericano Sub-20

Colombia have finally managed to win a match in the final round of the
South American Sub-20 Championships, beating Paraguay 2-1 in Puerto La
Cruz.

Independiente Medellín defender Hernan Pertuz put Colombia ahead in the very first minute and Sherman Cárdenas, who fought himself into the team’s starting line-up, added another in the 22nd.

In the second half, Colombia lacked strength and energy and Hernán Pérez of Libertad scored back in the 54th minute.

As the Colombians gave away leads in their previous two games, Paraguay hoped to take advantage of that weakness. However no more goals were scored this time around.

As a result, Colombia may still hope to qualify for July’s Youth World Cup, for which they would have to finish within the top four.
