Colombia air traffic controllers busted for drug trafficking

Colombian authorities on Tuesday conducted simultaneous undercover operations at multiple airports across the country in order to bring down three alleged drug traffickers.

The three men state security officers apprehended were reportedly air traffic controllers who coordinated traffic for airports in 

The corruption allegations led the government’s civil aviation authorities to file multiple complaints demanding that a full investigation be launched.

“The [civil aviation authority] has been cooperating with state security agencies at all times in the fight against drugs…and the fight against drug cartels,” read a statement from the country’s civil aviation authority.

Authorities have yet to release the identities of the three alleged drug traffickers or to what gang or organization they were affiliated with.
