Child killed in FARC attack on north Colombia town

A child is killed and two others have been injured in an alleged FARC bomb attack in northern Colombia.

According to local media reports, two bombs went off in El Tarra, a small town in the troubled Catatumbo region where the FARC have carried out several attacks this year.

The bombs were planted near a military checkpoint, but killed and injured solely children who were passing by the military facility.

The victim who died was five years old. The two other children were his sisters, aged nine and 11.

Authorities have blamed the FARC’s 33rd front, which is active in the region, for the attack.
