Canadian engineer kidnapped by armed men

Col. Ruben Alzate says 46-year-old Thomas Orland MacLean and 48-year-old Jesus Salvador Aristizabal were intercepted by two gunmen as they traveled on a highway near Tulua, a town 150 miles (240 kilometers) southwest of the capital, Bogota.Alzate says the abduction took place on June 26 and the identities of the abductors is not known.He said Friday that authorities have offered a US$5,700 reward for information leading to the men’s return.It wasn’t clear if the kidnappers were one of Colombia’s armed groups or criminals. On Wednesday, authorities rescued 15 hostages from Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia guerrillas. (AP)
