British businesses are planning Colombian investments worth $3.4 million in the coming years, President Juan Manuel Santos has revealed.
During a visit to London, the Colombian leader said the healthy state of the country’s economy had made it an attractive prospect for foreign investors.
Earlier this year, credit rating agencies Standard & Poor and Moody’s both raised Colombia’s debt rating to investment grade, citing a favorable growth outlook and increased security.
President Santos says Colombia is being rewarded for “good behavior”, such as market-oriented economic policies.
Following a seminar with British business leaders, a statement on the presidential website said, “They have told me they will invest $3.4 million in the coming years. While I welcome this investment as good for Colombia, it is a situation from which everyone will gain.”
