Boxer Daniel Reyes wins World Title

Reyes battled for the title with Argentinian Luis Lazarte on Friday night.

The match had to be decided by a jury. Two of its members awarded Reyes the victory, where the third called for a draw. This was enough for the Colombian to take the belt.

Reyes commented: “At first Lazarte made things difficult for me. Later, in the eighth and ninth rounds, he wanted to attack again but we did things well, and I think that that’s where I won the match.”

The 37-year-old Argentinian disagreed with the judges: “They robbed me, and in my country I don’t have luck.”

This was Reyes’ 40th boxing victory, of which thirty were achieved by knock-out.
