Bogota’s El Dorado airport rockets into world’s 50 best airports

Following a major upgrade, Colombia’s biggest airport, El Dorado in Bogota, shot from being the world’s 94th best airport to the world’s 46th best airport, leaving other South American airports behind.

The airport received the recognition at the World Airport Awards held in Germany on Thursday.

According to the WAW’s latest ranking, El Dorado overtook Lima’s airport as South America’s best.

El Dorado’s Peruvian competitor dropped from 35 to 49.

Opain, the company managing El Dorado, stressed that the his company has met a previously set goal to become the continent’s best airport.

Skytrax, the organizer of the awards, additionally praised the Bogota airport staff, which was also recognized as the best in South America.

Bogota’s El Dorado airport handles some 30 million passengers every year. The majority of these passengers use the airport for transit.
