Bogota garbageman finds grenade launcher in trash

A Bogota garbageman found a grenade launcher while picking up the trash in the south of the capital early Wednesday morning.

The weapon was found in the Altos de la Florida neighborhood, close to Bogota’s largest prison, La Picota.

After his exceptional find, the garbageman alerted authorities and surrendered the weapon to the explosives squad of the Bogota police department.

Authorities told newspaper El Tiempo that the grenade launcher poses no threat to the public because it wasn’t intact and in fact is often used as decoration of police stations or army compounds.

In this case, the grenade launcher was destroyed.
