French-Colombian politician Ingrid Betancourt felt “replaced” when she found out while being held captive by the FARC that her husband had a new girlfriend, she told German weekly “Der Spiegel.”
Two years after Betancourt`s abduction, she heard her husband, Juan Carlos Lecompte, on the radio the first time .
“He said he wanted his life back”, remembers the former presidential candidate, who said she did not expect Lecompte “to live for years like a monk.” But when he started talking about his new girlfriend, Betancourt admits that she felt “replaced.”
Lecompte is demanding a share of royalties from the French-Colombian politician’s new book “Even Silence Has an End” in the divorce settlement.
