Assisting landmine victims is a specific promise made by Colombia and 160 other States through the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention, or Ottawa Convention.
Author Kerry Brinkert has served as the Director of the Implementation Support Unit of the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention (ISU) since 2002. The purpose of the ISU is to further enhance the operation and implementation of the Convention.
Previously, Kerry worked for the Mine Action Team of Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade where he served as the Section Head of Research, Policy and Communications.
Kerry’s background is in policy analysis, having received a Master of Arts in International Affairs from Ottawa’s Norman Paterson School of International Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Calgary.
