Members of the Colombian army deactivated bombs found on a truck in the northeast Arauca department, which they said were planted by the FARC.
Newspaper El Espectador reported Tuesday that the Army’s 18th Brigade discovered the truck in a rural area of the Arauquita municipality, close to the Venezuela border, on the road between Panama de Arauca and the municipality of Tame.
Military sources attribute the terrorist attempt to the “Uriel Londoño” FARC squadron.
The perpetrators had attached the explosive material, which included duplex cable and approximately 100 batteries, to the cabin of the vehicle.
Special personnel from the Administrative Security Department (DAS) and the National Police were dispatched to the zone, where they deactivated the explosives.
This is the second such case in the region in the past two weeks, where on March 4 the army discovered explosives planted in a vehicle by the FARC’s 10th Squadron and captured one of those responsible.
