AH1N1 death toll reaches 111

The death toll in Colombia for the AH1N1 flu virus has reached 111 and the number of confirmed cases of the virus stands at 2,371, authorities announced Wednesday.

The cases have been confirmed across 27 of the 32 regional departments and in 147 of the 1,102 municipalities in the country.

The Protection Minister, Diego Palacio, revealed that the Colombian government has allocated 50 billion pesos for the purpose of buying 1.5 million doses of the flu vaccine, claimed a report by news site CMI on Tuesday.

The vaccine will be given to priority to those most at risk, including pregnant women, medical personnel and inhabitants of areas where the virus outbreak has been most fierce.
