Miss Colombia 2007, Taliana Maria Vargas Carrillo, has moved on from the pagent world to a blossoming acting career and talked about Colombia, God, and her hair styling ritual with newspaper El Espectador.
Santa-Marta born beauty Taliana was nearly Miss Universe in 2008, but has since decided to make moves to establish a successful acting career. She has sworn off diets and marriage, but keeps up a strong faith in religion and the blessings that have allowed her to gain the fame she currently enjoys as being the national representative for Elvive hair care products by L’Oreal Paris.
Multilingual Miss Vargas Carrillo immigrated to the United States with her family as a youngster, where she worked and attended school. However, things changed when her aunt told her she should run for Miss Magdalena, which eventually brought her nearly to the top of the pageant world, as first runner-up to Miss Universe 2008.
Regarding pageant life, Vargas Carrillo remembers fondly that “putting on high-heels taught me to appreciate my country, and understand many things that before were very alien,” such as discipline. She explained that while representing Colombia, “I traveled all over, giving love. I learned to cope with dignity, love, and a smile all of the problems facing the country.”
Although her climb to fame made her abandon her university track in linguistics, studying English, Italian,Greek, and Arabic, Vargas Carrillo “doesn’t feel a void by not finishing her studies.”
Instead, she says she has “done a masters and doctorate of life, growth, and learning with acting.”
Taliana has gained fame for her role on the Colombian RCN telenovela series “Chepe Fortuna” with super sexy co-star Susana Rojas. She also reports that she began participating in acting workshops in New York as of September, and has been going to film and television castings.
She reports that “acting is what I want to do for the rest of my life.”
Speaking throughout the interview about her faith, the former-Miss Colombia exclaimed that she has been a believer in God her whole life, “but it’s not going to mass every day and praying with a rosary…if not for my faith, I would not have achieved so many things. I like being attached to God and the Virgin, they give light.”
Regarding her beauty routine, Taliana claimed she has none and firmly opposes dieting, saying “I never diet, that’s not in my vocabulary, that word makes me barf.”
As the Colombian representative for luscious hair, the coastal-born cutie advises “washing thoroughly with L’Oreal products. You have to apply the shampoo twice for the hair to absorb the product’s nutrients…I suggest leaving the conditioner for the end, so it closes the open hair follicles.”
