Seven designers from their hometown of Cali are being featured at Colombia’s grandest fashion, health, and beauty Exposhow, lasting from October 18-22 in the capital of Valle de Cauca.
The event will be held at the Centro de Eventos Valle del Pacifico and promises five full days of fashion shows, trade shows, specialized symposiums, and plenty of fabulous shopping opportunities.
Italian designer Alberta Ferretti with her namesake brand Philosophy and trendy label Moschino are the featured international labels at this year’s expo, and Elenco and Studio F take the spotlight for most famous national brands.
The Studio F- Elenco collection is called “Geometric Illusion” and is marked by blocks of color and luminous pieces of black and gold. Detailing includes rhinestones, sequins, metallic fabric, metallic shades of yarn. The cuts and styling favor bare backs, plunging necklines, strapless tops, and straight skirts. Desgin show on Saturday, October 22 at 7PM.
Carlos Arturo Zapata will be making a comeback at the event this year, with a collection of luscious fabrics and swarovski crystals and 40 hand-made dresses. The color palate favors shades of grey, that reflect sensuality, luxury, sophistication, and shine. Fashion show scheduled for Saturday, October 22 at 9:45PM.
Versilia by Royi Aljure is another Cali-born creator, with collection “Amazonia” that features industrialized snake and crocodile skins ranging from discrete to bold and wild. The designer’s famous Ankle Boots (boots with heels) and shoelaces will be a centerpoint of the line, as well as Tomboy style shoes, ballet flats, and six-inch high heels. Senda by Nelly Rojas will be showing off their “Liquid Sublimation” collection in homage to the lost city of Altlantis, with gemstone pieces made of quartz, lapis, agate, and moonstone, sterling silver, 24-carat gold, and pink gold. See the lost world inspired jewels on Friday October 21 at 8:45PM.
Johanna Ortiz, known for her elegance and modernity that reflects silhouettes of the 30’s and femininity of the 50’s, comes to life in her collection “Anicca.” Inspired by movies like Gone With the Wind and Alfred Hitchcock’s To Catch a Thief, her pieces reflect timelessness with nude tones, chiffon, silk charmeuse, and expressive pieces with pleats, tucks, and royal colors.
Andres Otalora will be there with his contemporary “Bossa Nova” collection, with lots of organic and geometric prints, and garments made of silk charmeuse, silk chiffon, cotton, and denim, all 100% natural. The pieces are meant to convey the Brazilian joy of life, and liveliness is expressed with butterfly sleeves, high waisted pants, long skirts, and blouses.
Last but not least, Cali-born Renata Lozano will be present his “Piel” collection, which sees clothing as a second skin, mixing luscious fabrics with skin tone colors. Macademica, almond, red grenadine, peace, hazel, and rose are all colors featured in the line of designs made of chiffon, charmeuse, organza, and satin.
