500 mayors to gather in Cali

Five hundred mayors will convene in the Colombian city of Cali for the National Mayor’s Conference in September.

The Cali Mayor’s Office stated that mayors from all over Colombia will be attending the conference at the Valle del Pacifico event center to discuss national security measures, municipal finances, and oil royalties.

State entities including the national army, security agency DAS, and government secretaries will be present at the event.  Representatives from Costa Rica, Brazil, Spain and the U.S. will also be in attendance.

It is rumored that President Juan Manuel Santos will also attend the conference, which concludes on October 1.
